Body Surgery
Body contouring operations are very popular because they are excellent in enhancing the form of your body. These include: Abdominoplasty, Breast Augmentation, Liposuction, Fat transfer. The different surgical options suitable for you including advantages and disadvantages will be discussed during your consultation. The procedure selected for you will depend on your desired outcome and the unique characteristics of your body. This will ensure that the procedure best fulfills what you want.
Tummy tuck
Tummy tuck or abdominoplasty is an operation designed to enhance the contour of the abdomen, and the waistline. Most seek this operation because their abdomen may be overly protruding, or may have excess loose skin and fat. In some cases a full abdominoplasty is not required and we may suggest a “mini tuck” where the naval is not moved and only excess fat and tissue are excised.
An incision is made while under sedation to the lower part of the abdomen and a circular incision is also made surrounding the navel. Following these incisions, the skin is separated from the underlying muscle up to just below the rib cage. The muscles of the abdomen are then tightened by suturing them together. This flattens, shapes and contours the abdomen and waistline. Subsequent to the removal of excess skin and fat, the remaining skin is pulled down and secured to inelastic tissue (fascia), tightening the whole abdomen.
Additional to a tummy tuck, we may also perform a minor liposuction to provide extra contour and shape to your waistline.
Liposuction
Liposuction is a procedure where an extremely small incision is made and a canulla (metal suction rod) is inserted into the area affected with fat and through negative pressure, the fat is aspirated. The surgery was designed to remove fat deposits in unwanted areas. This procedure can be performed almost anywhere where fat deposits exist. The liposuction procedure today is highly advanced and less invasive.
Liposuction is not meant to reduce one’s weight or rid oneself of obesity, liposuction is meant primarily to sculpt and form the body. By removing certain unwanted fat deposits that do not respond to diet and exercise, we can sculpt your body to enhance your figure. Following the procedure, it is important to maintain a healthy lifestyle so that the procedure will have even better results. If however you do gain weight following the procedure, the fat will be distributed evenly in other areas of your body, keeping your general shape.
Fat Transfer
Fat transfer is one of the latest procedures in cosmetic surgery. Simply it is using your own fat which is lipsuctioned to enhance the proportions of your body to a more aesthetic appearance. Fat transfer is also used as a filler; in this regard it is a better choice as it is a enduring filler in comparison to other fillers used today which are temporary. Common areas where it is used as a filler include the laugh lines, crows’ feet, frown lines, and acne dimples. Areas where fat transfer is commonly used for augmentation and contouring include buttocks, legs, lips, cheek areas, and the chin.
Scarring:
We do our best to ensure that minimal scarring will occur. However, any procedure where an incision is made will result in a scar. The magnitude of the scarring depends on many different factors such as, skin color, skin thickness, and how you heal to wounds in general.
If you have a scar there are many different procedures and treatments available that can greatly improve the look of those scars. As with any scar, as time goes by, it will heal more and more reducing and improving the appearance of these scar(s).
