NAIL FUNGUS

Nail fungus (Onycomycosis) is a common condition that begins as a white or yellow spot under the tip of either your fingernail or toenail. As the fungal infection goes deeper, nail fungus may cause your nail to discolor, thicken and crumble at the edge.

The treatment of this condition involves the LP Nd:YAG  light, which inactivates fungal pathogens to a depth below the nail tissue surface leaving the surrounding tissue intact.

Laser irradiation results in excessive heat which leads to the destruction of the pathogen via apoptosis, a programmed cell death and therefore to the termination of the infection. The natural growth and immune processes of the body are then able to restore the nail to its pristine state.
