Breast Enhancement Surgery

Breast augmentation and breast lift are two of the most common and most sought-after procedures performed today. Every individual is different and considerations are made at the time of your consultation about what is best for you. Breast augmentation surgery and breast lift surgery offer women distinctive benefits. Saline and silicone implants will increase the volume of the breasts and can help to improve an asymmetrical appearance, while breast lift surgery provides a woman with a more youthful look after the repositioning of the breasts to a higher position on the chest wall. Depending on various factors, these procedures may be combined during one operation.

Breast Augmentation

The main indication for this procedure is dissatisfaction with the size of the breasts, as well as evening out size differences. As you get older or following pregnancy, certain hormonal changes can result in shrinkage of one’s breasts; this can be easily corrected through breast augmentation by simply filling in what has been lost. Breast augmentation, or “augmentation mammoplasty,” is commonly performed with the insertion of either gel (cohesive silicone) or saline implants placed either over or under the pectoral muscle. The approach (incision placement), sizing of the breast implants, the type of anesthesia to administer, and type of implant to use, will depend on the individual.

Every plastic surgery procedure carries its own set of potential risks and complications, and breast augmentation is no exception. Although it is rare, some of the complications that may occur after surgery include: infection, bleeding, changes in nipple or breast sensation, blood clots, and implant leakage or rupture. The extent of noticeable scarring is based on the incision placement selected. No matter the approach used, Toronto, Ontario cosmetic surgeon Dr. Castillo strives to provide the most natural-looking, breast enhancement surgery results.

Breast lift

Sagginess of the breasts commonly occurs in women following pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss, or loss of elasticity in the skin due to aging, which can be solved with a breast lift (“mastopexy”). In some cases we encourage the patient to combine a mastopexy with a breast augmentation to improve shape and breast projection. It is common for women to request the insertion of saline breast implants or silicone gel breast implants in combination with breast lift surgery.

Mastopexy can effectively raise the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissues; however, when repositioned into their new contour, the breasts can appear smaller with less volume. Breast augmentation will increase breast volume and add firmness, which is not capable when mastopexy is performed on its own.

Dr. Castillo can discuss a woman’s options with the lifting procedure during a consultation. Those who are frustrated with having over-sized, hanging breasts may be interested in having a reduction performed with mastopexy versus augmentation.

Body Surgery

Body contouring operations are very popular because they are excellent in enhancing the form of your body. These include: Abdominoplasty, Breast Augmentation, Liposuction, Fat transfer. The different surgical options suitable for you including advantages and disadvantages will be discussed during your consultation. The procedure selected for you will depend on your desired outcome and the unique characteristics of your body. This will ensure that the procedure best fulfills what you want.

Tummy tuck

Tummy tuck or abdominoplasty is an operation designed to enhance the contour of the abdomen, and the waistline. Most seek this operation because their abdomen may be overly protruding, or may have excess loose skin and fat. In some cases a full abdominoplasty is not required and we may suggest a “mini tuck” where the naval is not moved and only excess fat and tissue are excised.

An incision is made while under sedation to the lower part of the abdomen and a circular incision is also made surrounding the navel. Following these incisions, the skin is separated from the underlying muscle up to just below the rib cage. The muscles of the abdomen are then tightened by suturing them together. This flattens, shapes and contours the abdomen and waistline. Subsequent to the removal of excess skin and fat, the remaining skin is pulled down and secured to inelastic tissue (fascia), tightening the whole abdomen.

Additional to a tummy tuck, we may also perform a minor liposuction to provide extra contour and shape to your waistline.

Liposuction

Liposuction is a procedure where an extremely small incision is made and a canulla (metal suction rod) is inserted into the area affected with fat and through negative pressure, the fat is aspirated. The surgery was designed to remove fat deposits in unwanted areas. This procedure can be performed almost anywhere where fat deposits exist. The liposuction procedure today is highly advanced and less invasive.

Liposuction is not meant to reduce one’s weight or rid oneself of obesity, liposuction is meant primarily to sculpt and form the body. By removing certain unwanted fat deposits that do not respond to diet and exercise, we can sculpt your body to enhance your figure. Following the procedure, it is important to maintain a healthy lifestyle so that the procedure will have even better results. If however you do gain weight following the procedure, the fat will be distributed evenly in other areas of your body because the lipsuctioned fat is removed permanently, keeping your general shape.

Fat Transfer

Fat transfer is one of the latest procedures in cosmetic surgery. Simply it is using your own fat which is lipsuctioned to enhance the proportions of your body to a more aesthetic appearance. Fat transfer is also used as a filler; in this regard it is a better choice as it is a permanent filler in comparison to other fillers used today which are temporary. Common areas where it is used as a filler include the laugh lines, crows’ feet, frown lines, and acne dimples. Areas where fat transfer is commonly used for augmentation and contouring include buttocks, legs, lips, cheek areas, and the chin.

Scarring:

We do our best to ensure that minimal scarring will occur. However, any procedure where an incision is made will result in a scar. The magnitude of the scarring depends on many different factors such as, skin color, skin thickness, and how you heal to wounds in general.

If you have a scar there are many different procedures and treatments available that can greatly improve the look of those scars. As with any scar, as time goes by, it will heal more and more reducing and improving the appearance of these scar(s).

Butt Augmentation

Butt Augmentation with Fat Transfer (Brazilian Butt Lift)

Butt Augmentation

Breast enlargement is not the only procedure designed to enhance a woman’s body shape – butt augmentation is also an effective cosmetic surgery option that can provide a more feminine figure.

Dr. Castillo specializes in several body contouring procedures, including butt augmentation via the fat transfer technique. There was a time when butt implants were the only route towards enlarging an individual’s buttocks. Now, with the advancement of plastic surgery, semi-solid silicone butt implants are not the only way to increase volume in this area. Many surgeons, such as Dr. Castillo, are happy to provide another option to patients due to the known complications posed by butt implants: the implants may shift over time causing an asymmetrical buttock appearance, and a break or rupture could occur (creating the need for another butt augmentation procedure to correct the problem). In addition, the surgeon has less control in the overall reshaping process as implants are inserted in predetermined, limited areas.

Using fat as the material to augment the buttocks, on the other hand, allows for precise sculpting and individualized results. The fat that is used for butt augmentation can be suctioned from various regions of the body that store excess fat, such as the arms, abdomen, and thighs. Understanding the needs of his female patients, Toronto butt augmentation surgeon, Dr. Castillo, has the skills and experience in providing natural-looking, subtle curves for a woman.

Because butt enlargement surgery via fat transfer is a two-step process (liposuction and fat injections), the length of surgery time varies for every patient. Typically the fat transfer technique takes about one hour, and is performed on an outpatient basis. The recovery time is also unique for each individual, as it depends on which areas are treated, and how many are treated.

As compared to butt implant surgery, Toronto Brazilian butt lift patients do not usually feel any discomfort in the buttocks following butt augmentation via fat transfer. Patients must wear a body garment for six to eight weeks to help maintain the new shape. It will take about seven days for swelling and bruising to cease, three to five days to return to normal activities, and approximately 10 to14 days to heal before going back to work. The recovery period for butt implant surgery is significantly longer than butt enhancement via fat transfer. Some of the fat that is transferred to the buttocks will be reabsorbed by the body; therefore, the final outcome of the procedure is not usually apparent until after three months. As long as the patient maintains a healthy lifestyle, results can be permanent.

Face Surgery

Cosmetic Surgery of the face improves the signs of ageing through surgical and non-surgical techniques. It may also improve your own beauty. What is best for you may not be the same to somebody else. That is why during the surgical consultation different options are available. Surgical Treatments will have long lasting dramatic, yet natural looking results. Non-surgical treatments will enhance the beauty of your face by reducing wrinkles and other ageing factors with significantly less down time.

Facelift

The facelift operation is a surgical procedure with the purpose of removing the sagginess and folds of the facial and neck tissues that arise with ageing. Since ageing affects all regions of your face, it is not uncommon that other procedures may need to be combined with a facelift operation such as eyelid, brow and forehead rejuvenation surgeries.

Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty, or nasal surgery, to improve the appearance and function of the nose is a common operation performed today. Nasal deformities may be present at birth, or develop with aging and growth. The nose is the focal feature of the face and an ideal contour depends on the facial structures of the patient. In many patients a hump removal is all that is necessary to achieve the desired results. In many others the nasal tip or tip of the nose requires refinement, lifting or dropping to achieve a more beautiful appearance. Crooked, wide, long pointy or flat noses require different rhinoplasty techniques to be enhance your look, however all of these irregularities can be improved upon. As in all procedures, there are certain limitations in reaching your goal and the final outcome will vary from patient to patient.

Male plastic Surgery

Cosmetic surgery is becoming increasingly popular among men. Some of the most common procedures include gynecomastia, liposuction, tummy tuck, facelift, and rhinoplasty. The techniques used for each procedure will vary slightly from patient to patient depending on the patient’s health history, the extent of correction necessary, and the patient’s desired results. Dr. Castillo will review the risks and benefits for each procedure in detail during your consultation.

Gynecomastia

Gynecomastia is the enlargement of male breasts. When excess breast tissue is involved, it is usually due to a hormonal imbalance. Often, men may just have excess fat in this area. In either case, gynecomastia surgery, also called male breast reduction, will decrease the size of male breasts and restore a more masculine physique. Many men experience increased confidence as a result of this procedure. Liposuction alone may be used when enlarged male breasts are the result of excess fatty tissue. In cases where excess glandular tissue is present, excision may be necessary to remove the excess tissue and skin. Incision length and pattern will vary depending on the extent of tissue to be removed.

Liposuction

Liposuction is a procedure designed to improve the contour of many areas of the body. Most commonly, it is performed on the buttocks, abdomen, flanks, thighs, and arms. It can also be used on the face and neck area. Liposuction is not a weight loss procedure but is more suited for fatty areas of the body that are difficult to target through diet and exercise alone. There are many different approaches to liposuction. In general, a thin hollow tube called a cannula is inserted through a few small incisions in the area of treatment. With a controlled back and forth motion, excess fat will be loosened and suctioned out of the body through a surgical vacuum attached to the cannula.

Tummy Tuck

The tummy tuck procedure addresses excess fat and skin on the abdomen and tightens the underlying muscles to provide a smoother abdominal profile. A full tummy tuck will improve the contour of the entire abdomen, while a “mini” tummy tuck will address only the lower portion. A full tummy tuck utilizes a horizontal incision from one hip bone to the other. The shapeand length of the incision will depend on the degree of correction necessary. Weakened abdominal muscles will be sutured to provide a tighter abdominal wall. Any excessfat, tissue and skin is removed. A second incision around the navel is made to provide access to the tissues and skin of the upper abdomen. A mini tummy tuck is similar, but it does not use an incision around the navel.

Facelift

A facelift can improve sagging skin and wrinkles in the midface, below the lower eyelids, along the jawline, and the neck. This procedure is often performed along with a brow lift, eyelid lift, and/or rhinoplasty to achieve an overall rejuvenated facial appearance. Incisions generally begin in the hairline at the temples and extend down around the ears to the lower scalp. The underlying facial muscles are tightened in the desired areas, and excess facial skin is trimmed away. If necessary, another incision is made under the chin to address loose skin on the neck.

Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty, also referred to as “nose surgery,” can improve both the form and function of the nose, depending on the needs of the patient. A rhinoplasty can correct breathing problems (caused by genetics or injury) with a septoplasty, or it can correct various aesthetic concerns. The procedural technique used will vary depending on the type and extent of the corrections needed.
